The new issue of Word magazine features Moz on the cover, with the byline "Morrissey is our Man Of The Year". There's a six page feaute by Stuart Maconie, and some nice photos of our boy sporting a surprisingly fetching side parting, and looking rather distinguished, all told.

According to an article in today’s Times, Morrissey has been nominated for a South Bank Show Award. The South Bank Show has been UK TV’s leading arts show for some time; The Smiths were, of course, featured in 1987.

The awards ceremony will be held on January 27th and is usually televised nationally. Moz may be tempted to put in an appearance, given some of the other nominees.

“The South Bank Show panel has nominated some splendidly eclectic shortlists for the awards this year, with names and productions from ten disciplines: from theatre to dance and opera to television drama — from Alan Bennett’s The History Boys to choreographer Wayne MacGregor, from Opera North to Coronation Street.

The films nominated are My Summer of Love, Dead Man’s Shoes and Shaun of the Dead; classical music is represented by Harrison Birtwistle, Stephen Hough and Daniel Hope; and the Libertines, Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey battle in the name of pop.

The other categories are comedy, literature and the visual arts.”

ROBBIE THREATENS PAPARAZZI WITH MORRISSEY

British singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS has threatened to frighten photographers away by blasting MORRISSEY's SUEDEHEAD song out of his window.

The ANGELS star hates being bombarded by photographers outside his Los Angeles apartment, and hopes Suedehead's melodramatic lyrics, "Why do you come here/ When you know it makes things hard for me" will help them understand his need for privacy.

He says, "Next time there's loads of paparazzi outside my house I'm going to put massive speakers in my window and play Suedehead. 'Why do you come here?' I love Morrissey."

Just been reading Sky Active & there was an article which says a number of celebrities are to appear in a pro hunting tv programme in January. One of the names mentioned is PJ Harvey. I can't believe Morrissey would allow her to support him if he knew she was in favour of fox hunting.

Did we really stay in to watch this lot? - The Guardian

Excerpt:

After 40 years on BBC1, Top of the Pops is being sidelined. It's enough to make Stuart Jeffries feel dewy-eyed...

...The Smiths once performed William, It Was Really Nothing. Morrissey ripped open his shirt to reveal the words "Would you like to marry me?" written in eyeliner, or so memory has it. A gesture that had more sex in it than a decade or more of Pan's People's efforts...
