The Norwegian music programme, Lydverket, managed to get an interview with Morrissey in his hotel room in London on November 5 this month. You can see the result on the Smiths / Morrissey- half-an-hour-special on NRK1 Wednesday December 4 at 2230. For more information: [email protected] --- Yngve also writes: The next edition of "Lydverket", the Norwegian pubcaster NRK’s weekly pop music show, will be a Smiths special. Included in the show is a brand new interview with Morrissey!!! The show will be airing on NRK1 on Wednesday 4 December at 10.30 pm (with a rerun on NRK2, Sunday 8 December at 11.25 pm). Video clips from the show will probably be available from Lydverket’s website after the first airing. www.nrk.no/lydverket/ --- An anonymous person adds: ...The trailer shows a clip of Morrissey saying "Yes I was in The Smiths, but it felt very much like a solo career." or something like that.)

Just thought I'd let you know that I've added a short interview with The Thrills singer Connor about Morrissey and how they got the Albert Hall gig. Sounds like Moz really went out of his way to help them. Good for him. http://www.howdoesitfeel.co.uk (click on interviews link) --- English Martyr writes: This weeks NME (cover dated 30 Nov) has a free monthly guide to gigs in the north. In the booklet, called Bring it on it recommends Moz support band The Thrills, saying, "no wonder current L.A. resident Morrissey was bowled over". The band's style is described as "Moz-approved romantic indie classicism". Here's what singer Conor Deasy had to say about Morrissey: "He was on holiday in Ireland and came to see us practice. It was surreal because he was sitting on the couch five feet away. You just had to try and find the spot in the room you could look at, as if there were a hundred people out there." Morrissey asked the then unsigned band to support him on a west coast tour, but they were too broke to accept. Next he offered them the chance to play their first U.K. gig at The Royal Albert Hall. "We thought we'd be nervous, but we really enjoyed it," said Conor. "You could see the whole venue going up to the back, so it was a brilliant feeling." Also recommended in the same publication are new Seattle based five piece Pretty Girls Make Graves. The report says the name is lifted from "the song of the same name by those great punk heroes... The Smiths! Derek Fudesco, bassist and founder member says he was listening to records and was, "like wow, that would make a great name for a band." He goes on to say, "we just took it and there hasn't been any trouble so far. I hope there's not."

Gary sends the link to Rolling Stone:
Joel Madden of Good Charlotte - RollingStone.com Excerpt: What's the most embarrassing thing you listen to? Vanessa Carlton. My friends see that and they're like, "What?" And the Smiths -- they're one of the greatest bands in the world. No one will ever be able to sing like Morrissey. He just captures emotions. I could talk about the Smiths all day long.

I recently came across a picture of the musical trio, Hanson, in which the youngest brother, Zac, is wearing a T-shirt that says "Morrissey Rocks." That still doesn't make them cool though... http://hansonhouse.com/group10b.htm (on the top right of the site click on frame #9)

On Digital TV in Italy, there is a channel called 'Canal Jimmy' which is going to show this in Dec (url) Sorry, its all in Italian, but at least it clarifies that it is from Derby in 1983, and some of the songs played. Of course, I'll be watching it!!

WebUser magazine claims to be the UK's best selling internet magazine. Morrissey-solo got a mention, and a small screen shot, in issue 42 which was on sale 17-30 October. Each fortnight, one of the WebUser team picks three of their favourite places on the web. Daniel Booth (Deputy Features Editor) includes Morrissey-solo as one of his picks. He says: "There are several billion Morrissey sites and, yes, I know what you're thinking - that's not enough. Until every site has a section on the greatest living Englishman, Morrissey-solo will remain indispensable."
