An anonymous person sent a RealAudio file of Boz Boorer's version of "Kit", played at his concert in Los Angeles on April 11. I have converted it to mp3 so do a search on Napster for "Boz Boorer" and "Kit" to download it.

This is a Morrissey song never released, so those are Morrissey's lyrics (can you make them out?) The anonymous sender adds, "Remember, Boz said he could only play a bit of it since it had brass and strings."

Strange happenings down at the Salford Lads Club were revealed in The Manchester Evening News (21st April).

The BBC programme 'A Question of Pop' has a popular section during the programme where an old video is re-enacted by a celebrity artist, who is part concealed throughout, and the celebrity contestants have to guess who it is.

For the programme due to be screened Saturday 28th April, 90's one hit wonder, Chesney Hawkes, and 3 others created the scene outside the Lads Club for the video of 'Stop Me If You Think...' In the article, Hawkes confessed to not knowing too much about The Smiths, other than seeing Morrissey prancing about on stage with daffodils on Top of the Pops.

Curiously, in the UK, the video was not for 'Stop Me...' but for 'I Started Something I Couldn't Finish.' Apparently, the reference to 'a mass murder' was too close to home at the time of release and deemed unsuitable, so 'I Started Something...' was released in the UK instead, using the same video to promote it.

The feature showed a large picture of Chesney and co. outside the club sporting their Smiths T-Shirts and jackets etc.

In the Celebrity Record Collections section of Q4music.com Bernard Butler says about The Queen is Dead:
I was 16 and the perfect sad case for it. Disenchanted from suburbia. But that has given me a career. I Know It's Over used to make me cry regularly, yet something like Frankly Mr Shankly is hilariously whimsical. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - "And if a double-decker bus crashes into us/to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die" now that's a song to get into. When they went on tour for this it was really rocky - smart suits, beautiful guitars, Morrissey at the front. Very Oasis. Johnny says Strangeways Here We Come is their best album, but I know better.

Antony Harding (Hefner’s drummer) mentioned The Smiths as one of the bands that inspired him to begin writing his own music.

You can read the whole interview (and learn more about his wonderful taste in music!) in the Q&A section of his site.
