Lyn Boorer writes:

Boz Boorer is performing a couple of shows, 1 in Los Angeles and 1 in Dublin which came about by some people who have wanted to hear the various styles he plays all in one show. Boz will perform, acoustically, selections of his work from 79 to 2001.

Boz will be performing solo and will give a small talk in between the numbers. He will start with material from his first band The Polecats and move up through various rockin line-ups he has been involved with. He will incorporate his musical contributions with artistes such as Morrissey, Adam Ant and the late great Kirsty MacColl. Also thrown in for good measure will be tracks written by other writers that may have inspired Boz in some way or just that he loves that particular piece. It will be a very relaxed evening which will make a change to the normal raucous affairs that he creates. Come along and join him & contribute to what will be a fantastic trip down Boz's musical memory lane, of the past 22 years.

Finn extravaganza a team effort - The New Zealand Herald online (Mar. 4) excerpt:
"Stage left was Johnny Marr...who contributed some lovely six-string jangle, harmonica and let the Smiths song There Is A Light That Never Goes Out be resurrected with Neil Finn on lead vocals."
The article contains a pic from the gig.

There is also a report at NME.com - "Neil Finn joined onstage by members of Pearl Jam and Radiohead", link from Michael Dunn.

There are some Moz related comments in the new issue of Q magazine (May) which has REM on the cover. Asked if aware about the Morrissey/REM Brit awards duet rumour MS replied, "What? Where did that come from?" Then asked whether he'd seen Moz lately, MS replied, "Yeah, I ran into him in a parking lot in Los Angeles. He was great. He approached me and we sat and talked and had coffee for an hour or so. I had last spoken to him in New York, some time in the early '90s. He looks great. He seems to be doing pretty well."

There's another article about accidents at 'rock gigs' which describes the Morrissey getting hit by a string of sausages incident that was discussed on Morrissey-solo a few weeks ago.

That was all!

I went to see Low at Manchester University and they covered 'Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me'...well, they got half way through it before getting heckled, and abandoned it after 2 verses! Mancunians don't take very well to Americans covering our most sullen sons!

Low vocalist Alan commented "I knew we should never have invited Johnny Marr!"

Latest release by Sheila Divine offers an earful
Scott McLennan; ENTERTAINMENT COLUMNIST

The band gained additional notice in 1998 when it opened a handful of concert dates for singer Morrissey, whose old group, The Smiths, is clearly an influence upon The Sheila Divine.

To tour with Morrissey and win over those fans was big. Those are diehard fans, like Deadheads, and usually (they) don't care who is opening up,'' Sears recalled.
