No scoop i know, but the Johnny Marr section on the greatest guitarists of all time was fantastic! He was placed at number 10 - which was great considering the legends that lay alongside him.

He was on for 10 mins. from the hour and a half show, talking about Morrissey, the Smiths break up, Electronic (eek) and the new combo, The Healers.. they even played his new material for a minute , which sounded pretty good.

They also showed rare footage of Mozz and Marr circa '83. Morrissey was actually laughing...

Rourke appeared for a minute and a whole host of stars praising the work of The Smiths...(well chuffed.)

As for the top 10 itself... Jimi Hendrix was no. 1 and Clapton no.2. ...no appearance by modern day contemporaries that may be lesser known as some of the input was based on record sales alone, hence even Hank Marvin made the final 10. Others included - Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Brian May .... even Noel Gallagher appeared humble when he said he couldn't believe the things Marr did with a guitar, amazing stuff...

I was at a Deftones concert in London Arena on 24th of March, only for this pretty intense band to suddenly cover "Some Girls are Bigger Than Others". They re-did it as a version about 1 1/2 min. long, picking up from the second verse. Being in a room with metalheads I was the only one who knew the words so I sang loud and proud. Not an important story, but a cool little experience.

Q. What is the reason you called your first compilation "put morr ...morrisey"? Is it a word-joke or is it like a dedication?...

A. i can only say, that i was once asked by a french journalist to write one sentence about each of my artist. about styrofoam (morr music 010) i wrote that his voice samples reminds me of mr morrisseys singing. i told arne aka styrofoam the day before the mastering date of his album. he told me that in fact he learned singing with smiths songs and then we listened to smiths the night after - just this thinking about those carefree melancholic days when being young, realising a common past in music with my artists. i really suppose we all have some common key-records.

as i realise music mostly in a very ambient way, i just love the way to remember those pictures about music that once were put in my head. maybe it´s something like an up-to-date nostalgia.

maybe the next compilation title refers to mbv or seefeel and the next after to autechre. oops! and honestly i did this playing with words about morr(issey) when i was 15 years old and it was just funny to remember.

the smiths were important for my music socialisation, but new order, omd & soft cell were as well - so even if the title refers to this little story with arne, there might be something more behind it. maybe the same that happened through early too pure releases and tortoise 10 years later again.
