I have a friend who works at Jade Tree Records in Wilmington, DE. They're a label for indie bands like the Promise Ring and Joan of Arc. They get awesome distribution all over the world. They're also kinda tough to sign on to because they give the bands 50% of all royalties, something I think Morrissey would like. Unfortunately he turned down an offer by them last week, sadly prolonging the release of his next album...

Underground writes:

April 11th, 2001 - Boz Boorer will be performing his first ever solo show at Tempest in West Hollywood (venue change - Mar. 21). Boz has expressed a desire to play songs throughout his catalogue (i.e. John's Children, Morrissey, Polecats, Planet Rockers) along with numerous others he considers as his favorites. Also other selections from artists that have had an influence on his career (T-Rex, Bowie along with quite a few big surprises - Boz is a big fan of Indie music so don't expect an all night rockabilly fest). Brought to you by your friends at Underground. Please direct all inquiries to 323.960.7920. Underground info line. or email [email protected]. Please do not call Tempest, it is a busy restaurant and chances are you'd talk to a waiter that has no idea about the entertainment schedule.

Additional note: Underground is "mainly UK pop & indie with a dash of 80's thrown in for good measure" which plays a lot of Morrissey / Smiths (see flyer). Fridays 10pm - 2am in West Hollywood.

Found a slight mention of Morrissey on the recoil web site. Excerpt:
In more Recoil-centric news, Alan was the recipient of the Grand Prize 2000 by the Charles Cros Academy for 'Liquid' (it's about bloody time, too!). And I'm sure that one and all enjoyed Shunt's new look, courtesy of Rich Berry.

Alan also interviewed Johnny Marr for this month's Celebrity Squares and they reminisced about the 80s and that time when Morrissey and Alan got caught kissing backstage at Top of the Pops.

Morrissey is quoted in the latest issue of Clinical Psychology Review (Volume 21, Number 2) in an article titled "Why Does Schizophrenia Develop in Late Adolescence?" by Brit authors Chris Harrop & Peter Trower (p.241 of the issue). One section is called "Depression and Loss: 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'." In another section called "Mentoring and Seeking New Gods" there is a block quote of "There is a Light That Never Goes Out"!! Morrissey has 2 entries in the reference list :-) Any halfway respectable library should carry this journal; check it out!
