How much would you pay to finance a new Moz LP? (crap 80's rock group Marillion recently appealed to their fans to fund the recording of their new LP because they couldn't get a record deal). This big fanbase no record deal situation similarly applies to Morrissey so how much would people be willing to shell out if it meant an album of new songs within 6 months?

A) the cost of a CD (around £15 in UK)
B) £50
C) £100

Still no news about any sort of record label deal. From what I gather, the idea of putting out a record on his own is a near impossibility, but perhaps only because something that could possibly work hasn't really been presented to him before.

mozgene writes: Hello my name is Jose (mozgene). Tonight (Feb. 16) I ran into Morrissey at the STEREOPHONICS show in Los Angles at El Rey Theatre. I was going to get a drink at the bar went Morrissey was walking down the steps from the balcony, I was not sure if that was him so I said to him "Is that you Morrissey?" He replied, "I hope so". I told him my name and shook his hand and we said good bye to each other. I'm very happy to run in to Morrissey, I'm still surprised that he was there.

Shoplifterromo also writes: While in town for the Stereophonics show, spotted Moz upstairs at the El Rey watching the boys from Wales. Even though he was sipping Coronas, no one bothered him. He left after 3 songs. Must admit he should've stuck around.

The Smiths were given a small section of the BBC 2 program 1984. Johnny Marr talked about how he wore cheap fashionable Levis and Morrissey was talked about being a miserable git. Terry Christian (famous Mancunian) said the band were the best from Manchester and how he loved them. Most of the celebrity people interviewed just dismissed them!!!

A Letter from Digital Ink at grant-morrison.com:

grant,
are you morrisey? My mind forms this stange association between you and him ever since the smiths were mentioned in the invisible letter column years ago. in fact i never listened to the band before your command to do so. subsequently, when i listen now i picture you singing in morrisey's stead. when i read invisibles i hear "sweet and tender hooligan" laced between each word king mob speaks (invisbles motion picture, entire smiths soundtrack)... jason

GRANT's REPLY:

"It hasn't got a beak!!"

Ahh, Morrissey. Everyone knows me as the 21st century's sexadelic hell god of narcotic comics (errr.. don't they ?...) and very few now remember the days when I was posing as the medium's wilting, hypochondriac teetotaller, practically wed, fainting during interviews, hanging on a chicken wire cross in the NME, half-naked but for a loincloth, a leather jacket and Kylie stickers all over my flayed white ribs. "Can I just say Grant Morrison is a wanker ?" wrote one cruel reader. Worse, the editorial reply was "If you like."

Ah, those fiction suits (that's the new buzz word among all the young folk, isn't it ? Fiction suits. You have to keep up in this game...)

Back to the last volume of INVISIBLES...I was trying to feel British again and the sound of Morrissey's solo greatest hits album is clearly audible between the panels of the 'Satanstorm' story arc... from the echoes of 'Come Armageddon Come' on page 3 and the 'strange dust' falling on my ex-girlfriend's postal district onwards, the entire piece is haunted by the awful spectre of Mozzer...

In the new comic "Blue Monday: Absolute Beginners" (a nod to both New Order and The Jam), There is a Moz mention. A female character at the beginning of the story is singing "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out". Pretty interesting stuff. The comic is on newstands now and is put out by Oni Press.

The museum of modern art in Amsterdam (Het Stedelijk Museum) is now showing the works of actor/director Dennis Hopper. One of the works shown is a picture that featured the cover of 'The Smiths Best.. I and II' And also the best of video by The Smiths. It's the picture with the smoking girl and the tattood boy. For anyone who is interested, it lasts until April 16th.
